Halloween Time at Disneyland: Mickey's Trick Or Treat Party

We went back to the house we were staying at and got in our costumes for Mickey's Trick Or Treat Party back at California Adventure. Months ago we had planned to all dress up as a theme. We chose Wizard Of Oz/Wicked. I'm Dorothy, Adam is the Mayor of Munchkinland, Kelsey is Elphaba and Eric is the Scarecrow.

We are crazy excited while going down the escalator from the parking garage!

The view while walking into California.

The coolest thing happened while we were walking through the park. There were 2 scarecrows on perches that would tell jokes and talk to people as they walked by. But when one of them saw Eric dressed as the Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz he got down off his post, jumped over the fence and grabbed Eric in a hug. He talked about being long, lost brothers and how "Mom" missed Eric and that he should call her, how Eric got all famous and now was too good for his family. It was freakin' hilarious!!!

We stood in line for awhile to see the Wicked Stepmother and Wicked Stepsisters. They were nasty and rude and it was awesome.

We ran into Cruella de Vil as we were walking around. I stopped to talk to her and she noticed the little dog sewn on my dress and said she could get me a real coat made of real dogs. I told her that I liked her coat and asked if I could try it on. She grabbed it out of my hand and told me not to touch her. I stuck my tongue out at her.

There were trick-or-treating stations all over the park but they had really long lines because of all the kids. As the night wore on the lines got shorter so we then went and got tons of great candy and little packages of apples. I probably ate the equivalent of 4 whole apples and 3 handfuls of candy that night. It was so yummy!

This year I wanted to be a Ghostbuster and I probably would have if I didn't have to dress with the group. We saw a ton of people dressed as them at Disneyland.

Kelsey saw this realistic-looking Little Mermaid and asked to take a picture with her. We found out later from a guy that used to work there that the girl applied to be a character but got rejected because she was too tall and had the wrong color of eyes. It's a tough profession, being a Disney character!

Random silver people.

The Wicked Witch found a flying monkey!

Paradise Pier makes a beautiful background.

Kelsey and some other witches.

A cool pirate group we became friends with. They travel around and go to pirate stuff together all dressed up.

Captain Hook! We loved seeing all the villains on Halloween night!

We found Glinda the Good Witch!

There were a few dance parties scattered around. This one had Daisy Duck and a bunch of other people in funky costumes. They were so cute and a ton of fun!

Kelsey, Adam and Eric told me that Daisy Duck never comes out to interact with guests. They've gone many times and have only seen her in a few parades, that's it. But here she was shaking it at the dance party. We got to do the Hustle with Daisy!

We met Annie, a character on Little Einsteins, and she fell in love with Kelsey. She just kept hugging her. She even kept dancing. We thought it was weird how excited she was and how she was acting until Eric figured out that Annie knew that Kelsey was Elphaba from Wicked and was a fan. The dance she was doing was actually some sort of spell or something that Elphaba does in the play. Annie also did the "toss, toss" thing that Galinda does in Wicked. I don't know much about Wicked so didn't really get what was going on. I just kept taking pictures of it all. It was really exciting for Kelsey and Eric and the girl in the Annie costume!

Hollywood Backlot

Cardboard cutout of WALL•E

We found another dance party with a bunch of Disney/Pixar characters. Most of the people at the dance party were little kids so when us 4 older people came the characters all attached themselves to us. Eric posing with a funky cast member.

Atta from A Bug's Life would not let Kelsey go! Atta definitely had a girl crush on Kelsey. We hung out at the dance party for awhile and by the time we left Atta's face and hands and arms were covered with Kelsey's green makeup.

Flik found a little girl dressed like Dorothy too and dragged her over to me.

Elastigirl, Dorothy and Frozone

Kelsey and The Incredibles

I call this guy DJ Dracula.

Mr. Incredible playing around with the Scarecrow.

Hollywood Tower of Terror ride. This was the first time I had ever been on it and I'm so glad we went at night. I won't spoil it for you but it is amazing!

Like a lot of rides at Disneyland they take a photo of you at the climax of the ride. This was us on the Tower of Terror. We all agreed to act like our characters.

The Wicked Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Halloween Parade

Kelsey and the Toy Soldiers are wearing the same color makeup. Weird.

I loved the parade dancers outfits!

Screamin' California's Halloween reflection.

Me with the Queen of Hearts.

We got in this really long line to see the Bowler Hat Guy from Meet The Robinsons and we heard Mickey and Minnie were coming soon. While we were waiting we found two little girls who were friends and were dressed up just like Kelsey and me!

We soon realized the line to see Bowler Hat Guy was not moving and then we saw that he was just standing around talking to some of the cast members instead of the guests. Then we realized that no one wanted to talk to him, they were waiting for Mickey and Minnie. So I charged up to the front of the line and told him that we wanted to see him and (gesturing to the line behind us) none of these other people did. He acted embarrassed. He then let us take pictures with him. He was so stinkin' cute!

While we were still up there talking to Bowler Hat Guy Mickey and Minnie came up to switch with him. But he sat down on the ground and refused to go.

Minnie sat down with him too and they played a hand clapping game. She's so sweet!

Bowler Hat Guy was getting kicked out anyway and he was sad.

Close up of my ruby slippers. I bought the red shoes and glittered them myself. Red high heels...$5. Spray glue...$3. Red craft glitter...$2. Ruby Slippers...priceless!

The Queen of Hearts came around again and was being such a brat. Actually we think it was a guy in the costume. Which makes it even weirder that she/he would make Adam and Eric kiss her/his hand several times before they could take a picture with her/him.

Kelsey made her own costume patterned after Elphaba's from the play Wicked. It was incredible!! She added a Hidden Mickey.

Halloween Mickey and Minnie

This was the backdrop for some of the villains. When it was vacant we played around on it.

World's Largest Candy Corn!

Last few photo ops on the way out of the park right before midnight.

I found The Rocketeer!!!

C is for Christina

Why is the Scarecrow the one climbing the giant letters?

Eric getting into the character of the Scarecrow.

Following the Yellow Brick Road.

Shoe pic!

Kelsey kissed me with her green lips.

I kissed her with my red lips.

Kelsey's aunt lives near a street named Dorothy Dr. so we stopped to take a photo of me with the sign on the way home.

This was the BEST HALLOWEEN EVER!!!! I definitely recommend going to Disneyland for Halloween. It is amazing!
