Knights Ferry and some cheese

My mom needed some good sized river rocks for a Young Women's activity she has coming up and thought that Knights Ferry would be the best place to get some. So I went with her because I love Knights Ferry and wanted to take some pictures while we were at it. We first made a stop at the Oakdale Cheese Factory where we love to get curds!

In the cheese factory's gift shop (okay, it's basically nothing but a gift shop) they have free samples of all their amazing specialty cheeses. Yum!

When we finally got to Knights Ferry my mom just started trekking off and all I could do was try to keep up! She had us hiking in places I was sure no person had gone before! But it was AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!!! The whole time I was imagining either one of 2 things: 1) That I was photographing a bride in a fabulous white wedding gown. The scenery was gorgeous and a white dress would have looked incredible against it. or 2) That I was in England and a part of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. My mom and I have been watching the A&E 6 hour version a little each week and I am officially obsessed! I love the language they use and marvel at how clever Jane Austen is with her words. I have a little crush on Mr. Darcy AND Mr. Bingley! Shhh! Don't tell anyone! That could be embarrassing! While we were hiking all over the green hills amongst all the trees and rocks I really did feel like we could have been in England. Not to mention the weather! It was a cloudy, rainy day. Exactly like England!

The arrows in this picture point to some of the places I used to go cliff jumping when I was in high school and younger. The lower arrow is where I'd usually jump from. As you can see it's really only 5 or so feet. And yet I was still really scared. I am totally afraid of heights! But after the first nerve-wracking jump I could jump again and again with no problems. The higher arrow points to where all the boys would jump to show how cool they were. I am still too afraid to jump from that place even though I can jump from places much higher than that. I guess it's just a fear that has stayed with me from my childhood.

This wall was also a place where we would cliff jump. We would have to run on it and then jump out enough so we didn't land on the rocks. We were crazy! I actually only did it once. But all the older boys did it over and over again! Looking at it today I could not believe that any of us were crazy enough to actually jump from there! There are rocks everywhere! But the river is really deep in that area. Now, when we cliff jump at Knights Ferry, we hike a ways up the river to get to a great spot with lots of cliff to jump from. It's a lot higher than any of these other places but there is no shade. And it still takes me awhile to jump the first time.

I'm grateful for the self timer button on my camera so I could get a shot of my mom and I even with no one around to take it.

Here is a picture where you can see the entire length of the covered bridge.

I love the old buildings of the mill. They are all run down but still have so much character and beauty.

P.S. 20 points to whoever can guess what the sign on the building in the picture above reminds me of!!!

P.P.S. If anyone wants to go visit Knights Ferry just give me call and I'll totally go with you! Even better if you want me to take pictures of you, your family, your wedding dress, your fiance, your whatever there!

Bright green hoodie...$11.99 Chicken quesadilla...$8.99 Night out with the girls...priceless

Amy, Desirae and I did a little clearance sale shopping at Old Navy and laughed like crazy over dinner at Chili's Friday night.

A Walk A Day

My doctor told me to walk a mile every day to strenghten my body while my back is healing. So with or without my mom I walk about 3 miles along the bikepath and my neighborhood. Yesterday I took my camera along and documented the trip. My favorite picture is the one with the black birds in the trees. It's eerily fascinating. I think you can click on the whole collage to view it larger.
